In 2002 after dabbling with digital photography for a while and on the suggestion of his Aunt and Uncle, J C Greene entered 3 of his Photos into the Champlain Valley Exposition coming away with 1st and 2nd place his category. Needless to say, he was “hooked” and used the digital medium to capture his shots. His photos at the time were primarily landscape photos with a heavy fascination for sunset shots on Lake Champlain.
Then in January of 2005, SSG James Greene was deployed to Iraq along with his fellow comrades in arms where he tried to get a different perspective of the day in the life of the soldiers around him. It was while in Ramadi, Iraq that he tried to capture emotions and the sense of other worldliness during the far too many Memorial services held on FOB Ramadi of fallen soldiers of Task Force Saber. The result is a moving series of photos, a tribute to the fallen comrades of Task Force Saber as well as to all the soldiers lost during this Global War on Terrorism called “The Final Salute”.
Upon his return from Iraq “The Final Salute” exhibit was featured in the “Green Mountain Guard” magazine, the “Burlington Free Press” as well as “Vermont Public Radio”, “WCAX News”, “FOX 44” and the Brownell Library’s “Vet’s in Focus Series” that was aired on RETN Public Access Channel 16. The exhibit has also been on display throughout Vermont to include the “Brownell Library”, “Gifford Medical Center”, “The Vermont National Guard Headquarters” and the “Sullivan Museum” at Norwich University as well as several locations across the state of Pennsylvania.
He has also had the honor to capture “moments in time” for many weddings as well as “Special Events” for the “Vermont National Guard”, the “Vermont Veteran’s Administration”, “Vermont State House Ceremonies” and various other events.
Lastly, he was a constant contributor to the Burlington Free Press’s “Capture My Vermont” website where he received many honors and awards as well as having several photos published in the BFP photo book series “CAPTURE MY VERMONT” of photos solely focused on and about the state of Vermont.
Jim Greene (aka JC GREENE) though living the retired life, continues to “dabble” in the capturing of “moments in time”.
Where is She? - 2017
I first met Jim at a the Defenders VS. Enforcers Benefit Hockey Game, an annual event in which he'd been photographing for a number of years. A friendship was born almost instantly. Jim's laugh and good humor were contagious. I had a great time photographing the event and sharing shorts with Jim. He had a milestone birthday coming up and he contacted me asking if I wouldn't mind playing photographer at his party. I was honored to be able to be there and capture the beautiful day, great BBQ, and all of the loving friends and family that came to celebrate. When it came time to starting filming "Where is She?", I could think of no other that I would like to capture the moments on set! A great majority of the pictures you see on this website are Jim's!
